Breaking the Hiatus

So as most of you have noticed I haven’t been blogging or tweeting. I have been sinking into a black hole that it took until today to feel like I was seeing daylight again. It all started when I had to take 2 days off because I had the worst head cold EVER. I went back to work on Wednesday still not being able to think clearly because of all the congestion in my head. So I was pretty much good for nothing on Wednesday too.

Anywho. So with work being so busy and now with volleyball season on the horizon (YIPPEE!) I have been drowning with work, volleyball, and family. It is craziness.
So starting off why I am so busy at work – because my damn co-worker REFUSES to work on the stuff we have as priority. We primarily have been swamped with requests for security access and when I returned to work on that Wednesday 18th, there were over 50 tickets for security requests. EEK!!! On each security request you need approvals so not only do they sit in your queue they also sit in anticipation of being approved. Annoying. BTW. I am down to 5 tickets. All by myself. Yeah eat that co-worker…

Volleyball has been stressful. We went through 2 weekends of tryouts, one weekend I was sick. I had 8 of my 10 team members picked out and ready to go. I only had 2 more to choose. That is until the 14-1’s (A Team) coach came in a swiped about 3 of my players. It is what it is. Generally that is what happens when you are the B team coach…Oh well. So I had to choose more. We got our rosters finalized on Monday night only to find out that one of the girls on the higher team is ineligible. She needs to be on a 15’s team. Oh Great. There goes another one of my girls. Up to the A team. So I just offered another girl this morning. Geesh…This season already seems never ending and it just started.

Another stressful thing that happened is that Lucy was offered a position on the “b” Team with the club that I coach and happen to be on the Board of Directors for. Because Lucy isn’t GUARANTEED a position with our club it is always a good thing to try out at other clubs. So she did. She got an offer to play outside hitter on the “A” Team for that club. She quickly declined the “B” team offer and accepted the “A” Team offer. Oh boy. Did that ever cause a stir. Someone asked why she didn’t wait to see if the A Team coach with my club offer her a position, but Lucy said something to this effect: “If you make me an offer I can’t refuse then I will accept. If you make me a crappy offer I am going elsewhere”. I just love how my daughter is so well versed. LOL.

Don’t even get me started on the uniform ordering. What an effin cluster-f*&k…

So my dear peeps…That is where I have been. Going crazy in the world of illness, work, and volleyball all while trying to stay sane in the process..

Random Thoughts

So as I sit here wondering why I am so damn tired and it is only 6:17 p.m. feeling like I could crash out for the night, I think it is because of the time change. My body doesn't adjust well apparently. Because it is dark outside, my body feels like it should sleep. So the reason for the randomness is because this:

We have daylight savings for the simple fact that the farmers have more time during the summer to farm. Ok. I live in farm country. Honestly. I didn't see one farmer in the fields while the soy beans were growing or the corn was getting taller. Now that it is dark at 4:30 p.m. I see more fricken farmers out there with thier combines collecting all the dried up 6 foot stalks of corn with their headlights on. WTF? So what is the real reason for Daylight Savings Time? Seriously. If anyone knows, please tell me.

Lucy is sick with a head cold. Stuffy nose, stuffy head, and no fever. Whew. Thankfully no fever. She has a big weekend ahead of her this weekend. She has a powerlifting meet Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon she has volleyball tryouts for the Club season. So after she shows off her pipes she gets to go show off her mad VB skills.

I have a scrapbooking weekend this Friday thru Sunday. I won't be able to enjoy Saturday because of my coaching duties and picking out my fricken awesome volleyball team for the winter. I am stoked.

I have been surfing "Fear of Flying" articles for the last week. My fears are being eased by these articles. I am finding relief for the time being instead of dwelling on a flight that isn't going to take place for another 6 months.

Okay I am out for the night...I am tired.

Peace!

Week/Weekend Wrap-up

The week started out with a fall sports banquet at the high school. Lucy was awarded with MVP for the season. She is a rockstar. This is her 3rd MVP award for playing volleyball.

Work has been very stressful with the absence of my co-worker who was on vacation until Thursday. He got back Thursday and didn't do a damn thing except talk to everyone in the office about his vacation. Oh Well. I just feel like I have been picking up the pieces of my department and have a very full workload.

Gunner left for out of town to go to Mpls to see his girls, which left Lucy and I here for the weekend. Friday I was off at noon, Lucy had a dr appt to confirm her asthma test (she does have it) and then we headed to Green Bay for the state volleyball tournament. Yes we are volleyball freaks. Lucy even skipped out on a school dance to go to the tournament. She loves volleyball *that* much.

We headed back up there on Saturday for the championship game as well. I am honestly just wondering right now why they can't make some of these events more affordable for families.

Okay here is the idea, I have money to do these things, but perhaps not every family has the money to do these things. Each division that was playing made up a session. So Friday night we went to the division 1 and 2 matches. Each of those costs $8 admission. So for Lucy and I to enjoy 1 session, that mind you had 2 matches of volleyball going on at the same time, it was $16. Students were not discounted. So we stayed for 2 sessions. $32 total just for admission. Bullshit I tell you. I can't believe it. I understand $8 admission for the whole day, but each session? RIP OFF!! I couldn't say no to Lucy for the simple fact that she brought home the following grades and I was so proud of her:

Spanish - A
English - A+
Keyboarding - A
Algebra - B+

She had to be rewarded somehow. Volleyball is what she wanted and she got it!

So last night as we are sitting watching some movies, she accidentally dropped her phone in the toilet. Good freakin job. So it is still drying out and we are hoping for the phone to work again. If not, my mom has given me her old phone...Pretty basic, no camera no nothing, but it does have texting capabilities, so that should suffice for Lucy.

Fidgeting Gidget posted some not so good news on her blog. Please keep her in your thoughts!!
